It’s been a long way from the first tools for preparation of the fields to the technology of today. The horses that were set before the plough have left us nothing but a unit of measurement for engine rating. The first steam–powered traction engine – the forerunner of all tractors – was seen working in the fields about 150 years ago. Combine harvesters have been part of the modern agricultural scene for over 100 years.
